Rome Cee is a hip hop artist known for making thought provoking music.
He was born in San Diego, California. His father served in the
military and the family moved frequently, finally migrating to his
hometown of Baltimore, MD at the age of 8. Converting from Military
Schools to the harsh conditions of Baltimore public school systems was
no easy task. Rome spent many of his early years in trouble and
attempting to fit in with the growing hip-hop culture. Heavily
influenced by rappers such as Notorious B.I.G., Wu-Tang Clan and Nas,
Rome began writing rap songs at the tender age of 11. Although he
would not completely escape the wrath of street life, performing in
school talent shows and writing managed to keep him out of trouble. It
wasn’t until the death of his mother in 1999, that Rome would have more
of a presence in the city's drug scene, selling cocaine and using
ecstasy to escape the impact of an incredible loss. It took for Rome
to get arrested by police and chastised by family members to realize
his much greater purpose in life. His trials and tribulations would
lead him to making more heartfelt music that would reach many in his
town. Rome began making albums and distributing them in his local area,
recording with known producers such as Vaughn Mason widely known for
hits such as "Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll". These experiences taught
Rome how to structure songs and record in a professional setting. Rome
released his mix tape, So Much More in August of 2008 and followed in
April of 2010 with the Free EP, Tunnel Vision. The latter has had much
internet success and has been labeled by Baltimore City Paper's Al
Shipley to be a Stealth album. Rome is planning to release his fourth
project, The Extra Mile in the spring of 2011. Although the road to
success has been hard for him and many others alike, he maintains a
positive outlook on the future.
