Radana & Lielic
The story starts with two local artists from an area in east London’s (bow), if you know of these lads...then you probably would be thinking "how did a rapper/producer come to work with a singer/producer in a classic duet style collaboration??)
LIELIC started as jungle/garage mc in (1998) and was performing at numerous bars and clubs around London with various DJ’S .(1999)He began singing and producing his own music from R&B, Hip-Hop, House and many more styles of music. In (2001)he joined a pop/garage act called ’4PLAY’ they recorded an album and began singing in clubs around England ,with success and a large fan base four of their songs got singed to ( ZOMBIA RECORDS) They later went on to perform opening shows for ‘LOUISE REDKNAPP’ (CHANGING FACES UK TOUR 2002), which was a success. They eventually got their own tour, and ended up performing at the ‘SMASH HITS ROAD SHOW’ (Edinburgh). Amongst the vast success, there was little power that the group had over their manager which later contributed to the downfall in their group.
LIELIC continued to follow out his journey making soulful/funky house. He later went on to meet one local lad, RADANA, he was putting out mixtapes and invited LIELIC on a track(No More) on his 3rd CD (5Years Early). They knew each other from around their local area so they started working together.
RADANA started out as a Drum & Bass mc called ‘RADAR‘, he had also been a DJ. He started rapping when jungle started coming out in 1998, he met a lad from north London (wood green) named ‘GREEK BEATZ‘. They started recording tracks together on tape deck to tape deck (1999). RADANA’S love for music grew as his search for a producer deepened. His tape got passed onto a friend of a friend and eventually fell into the hands of ‘TRICKY’ (MASSIVE ATTACK). TRICKY ended up offering RADANA a deal, this later progressed to RADANA appearing on TRICKY’S tour called ‘13th’ (2003), Meltdown Festival (UK), Royal Festival Hall London (UK), Night town Rotterdam (The Netherlands), Central station Darmstadt (Germany), Doctor Music Day (Germany), Barcelona (Spain), Les Folies Festival (France), Maubeuge (France), Le Zenith Paris (France), Werchter Festival (Belgium), Werchter (Belgium, mtv live), Le Rock Dans Tous Ses Etats (France), Evereaux (France), Glastonbury Festival (UK), Pilton (UK). Unfortunately he and Tricky got frustrated with each other and they called it a day. RADANA went onto removing one ‘n’ from his name, before it was ‘RADANNA‘.
This made RADANA aim even higher, he started putting out mixtapes he produced himself. He released five mixtapes dedicated to the streets where he is from, representing the let downs in his life. He later went on to invite LIELIC on a track which evolved into a perfect soft/rough combination.
They both made a choice that would see the beginning of a special story. Up to today, they still continue to progress through the ranks, the album is ready, the singles are ready and the best thing about these lads is that their best work is not even recorded yet. Support UK music, even music alone and you will find yourself staring at these lads. They’re truly something to watch so keep your eyes on them…..
